This summer has provided those of us in Southern Alberta with an impressive spectacle of summer storms. They've been damaging, but they've also been quite amazing, giving us a view to nature that we don't often see here with day after day of massive storms just itching to spit out a few tornados and ending up with an endless summer of double-rainbows and awsome sunsets.
A few months ago I had the opportunity to photograph the wedding of a very fun couple. Their outdoor wedding in Okotoks was awesome; sunny and warm during the ceremony punctuated immediately afterward by a powerful thunderstorm that left some dramatic skys in it's wake for our formal shots.
So, we're going to Disneyland at the end of this month. Bought suitcases for the kids a few months ago. Told the kids 11 days ago. Went shopping last weekend for a new suitcase for Brandi ... where the girls saw how much cooler suitcases could be than the dull silver ones we got for them and they REALLY wanted to get some snazzy (expensive) suitcases. I suggested that we might be able to snaz-up the dull silver ones. Mistake.
One daughter just wants to put stickers all over her's. Easy. The other wanted pink. So, we went to get some hot pink paint and automotive clear-coat. Hopefully it'll be able to survive airport abuse.
I can't believe that I hadn't put this photo up here yet! This is one of my favorite shots from this last winter.
A few weeks ago there were some excelent sundogs forming, complete with a slight parhelic arc and a full halo. But, the entire atmospheric effect was to big to capture, even with my wide angle lens. So I took five shots and merged them together, producing the first image below. In retrospect, I should have taken an additional 4 photos for the corners.
Last week, Adobe released CS5 with it's newest feature: Content Aware Fill. With less than 5 minutes of work (all on Photoshop's part ... I only had to drag a marquee around the corners), Content Aware Fill filled in the corners. It even created some new houses in the bottom right corner. As you can see, it didn't do a perfect job with the sky in the bottom left and right corners, but it didn't give me a huge head start on cleaning them up manually.
